Mentoring

Metropolitan Family Service

MFS supports and actively engages older adults in a variety of volunteer opportunities.  AARP Foundation Experience Corps is a national program (housed locally at Metropolitan Family Service) which taps into the experience and passion of adults age 50 and over to ensure that every child has a chance to succeed in school and in life. Volunteer mentors serve in neighborhood elementary schools, tutoring individual and small groups of students to develop literacy skills. Comprehensive training and ongoing supervision are provided. The MFS website lists partner schools and shows a map of locations.
